Mirror face tour
1. Settle the baby on the blanket or in your lap and hold the soft mirror so both faces appear in the reflection.

Materials needed
- Baby-safe soft mirror
- Large play blanket or quilt
How to play
- 1Settle the baby on the blanket or in your lap and hold the soft mirror so both faces appear in the reflection.
- 2Point slowly to your own eyes in the mirror and say eyes, then pause so the baby can look.
- 3Point to the baby's nose in the mirror or lightly touch your own nose and say nose.
- 4Point to mouths next, smiling so the mouth is easy to see, then name mouth.
- 5End when interest fades: lower the mirror, offer a hug or lap rest, and put the mirror out of reach.
Look for
- Looking at the mirror or your face when you name a part
- Reaching toward the reflection
- Quieting or smiling during the naming
- Turning away when finished—respect that cue
Safety
- Never use a broken glass mirror or a mirror with a detachable handle small enough to swallow.
- Do not press the mirror against the baby's face or eyes.
- Stop if the baby cries, covers their face, or tries to bite the mirror rim hard.
- Stop if the mirror cracks or a piece loosens.
- Stay within arm's reach for every station.
- Never poke eyes, push into nostrils or mouth, or force a cloth against a distressed face.
- Use only intact baby-safe mirrors and cloths with no glass shards, sharp edges, or detachable small parts.
- Stop face-copy tongue play if saliva transfer is a concern for your household, and wash hands and cloths after wipe play.
