How to play

  1. 1Smile, make eye contact, and pat your knees twice slowly so the baby can see the beat.
  2. 2Sing or play one short chorus while you gently rock or sway side to side with the baby.
  3. 3Pause the sound for three seconds and watch whether the baby looks, vocalizes, or reaches.
  4. 4Finish with one quiet goodbye wave and sit still for a few breaths before the next activity.

Look for

  • Eyes on your face or hands
  • Bouncing or patting when the beat starts
  • A vocal sound after a pause
  • Calm body when the song ends

Safety

  • Keep speakers low and away from the baby's ears.
  • Stop if the baby cries through the song or cannot settle with a quieter version.
  • Stay within arm's reach during crawling paths, outdoor stops, and damp-cloth play.
  • Use only baby-safe fabrics and toys with no loose beads, batteries, or small parts.
  • Keep music volume low and speakers away from the baby's ears.
  • Never leave a damp cloth over the baby's face; empty any water immediately if you choose a shallow bin instead.
